Women’s Soccer Defeated by Middle Georgia

COCHRAN, Ga. – The Brewton-Parker Women's Soccer team traveled to Cochran, Ga. to take on Middle Georgia.

The Lady Barons (1-10-1, 1-8 SSAC) slipped to the Knights (4-9-3, 2-6-2 SSAC) by a score of 2-1.

"Congrats to Middle Georgia on a hard-fought game," Phillip Borde said. "We did not match their energy level in the second half. They took their chances and didn't win."

"I wish I could say we deserved to win, but the better team walked away winners today," Borde added. "We have two more matches in the span of four days so we need to focus on them."

How It Happened | First Half

The Lady Barons opened the first half with a shot from Amy Sagastume in the 8th minute that was saved by Middle Georgia's keeper. After a few missed shots from the Knights, Katelyn Ladner had a shot of her own in the 24th minute that was also saved.

Towards the end of the half, Kathleen Fisher had an opportunity in the 39th minute to break the scoreless draw, but was unsuccessful. Beata Chacko closed out the half for the Lady Barons with her own shot in the 45th minute. The two teams ended the first half even.

The Lady Barons tied the Knights with four shots each, but BPC had all four shots on target while MGA only had two.

BPC continued to play solid defense, keeping the Knights form scoring again. Unfortunately, the Knights increased their lead to two, with a goal in the 84th minute.

Nikki Clark found the back of the net in the 86th minute, with an amazing free kick to cut the Knights lead to one. The Lady Barons had one last chance to score, with a shot from Fisher in the 88th minute, but the shot was saved by the Knights keeper.
