Lady Barons Drop Three Sets to the Skyhawks

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Women's Volleyball returned to Southern States Athletic Conference action, hosting Point (Ga.) in Gillis Gymnasium on Friday night.

The Lady Barons (4-14, 1-10 SSAC) fell to the Skyhawks (9-9, 7-4 SSAC) in three sets.

How It Happened

The first set was a close battle between the two to open things up before the Skyhawks took a nine-point run to go up 15-5 on the Lady Barons. BPC gathered nine more points, including four kills from Kinsley Jordan and a kill from Amme Mobley, on their way to a 25-14 loss in set one.

The Lady Barons struggled in set two, quickly falling to a 6-1 deficit. BPC was able to cut the lead to two but was not able to capitalize on the momentum. The Lady Barons dropped five straight points and allowed the Skyhawks to go on another nine-point run to finish set two, 25-9.

BPC came out hot in the third set taking an early 7-3 lead. This lead was short-lived, as the Skyhawks took four straight points to tie the game up. It was a back-and-forth battle for most of the set with neither team taking more than a two-point lead. Late in the third set, the Lady Barons scored off a Skyhawk attacking error to go up 22-20, before dropping five straight points to lose the set 25-22.
