MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – The Brewton-Parker men's basketball program found themselves back in the win column with a dominant performance over Voorhees (S.C.) on Saturday.
The Barons (4-12) broke an 11-game skid with quite a convincing win over the Tigers (6-7) with a 76-42 victory in front of a home crowd in Gillis Gymnasium.
How It Happened | 1st Half
- Voorhees struck first with a quick jumper, but it was all Brewton-Parker for the next nine minutes of play as the Barons opened with 17 unanswered points led by Robert Hardy's 10 points.
- The Tigers eventually found a bucket at the 9:46 mark, yet the Barons continued to roll on with Lance Smith knocking down four more points to give BPC a 21-4 lead with just over seven minutes to play in the half.
- Brewton-Parker continued to build upon their lead with a 12-2 run over the next four minutes led by six points from Smith to go up 33-6.
- After three points from the Tigers, BPC responded with a trey from Grant Sanders and a bucket from Smith to close out the scoring for the Barons.
- A tip-in from Voorhees wrapped up the half, but Brewton-Parker remained comfortably in control at the break with a 38-11 lead.
- Smith shot 6-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe for 16 points while also snagging six boards.
- Hardy also produced double-digit points with 12, shooting 5-of-9 from the floor.
How It Happened | 2nd Half
- Sanders opened things up early in the second half before Voorhees with six unanswered points in the following two minutes of play.
- Brewton-Parker took the next five minutes to boost the lead to 39 points with a 19-4 run highlighted by Hardy's six points and Emmanuel Green's five.
- Voorhees responded with six points in about a two-minute span and began to find life, but it was too late given the deficit they held.
- The Tigers wrapped up the game by outscoring the Barons 15-9 in the final 10 minutes of play.
- Brewton-Parker held tough late in the game, holding the lead above 31 points and closing things out with a 76-42 advantage.

- Brewton-Parker finished the afternoon shooting for 46.6% (27-of-58) from the field, 35% (7-of-20) from three, and 62.5% (15-of-24) from the charity stripe.
- Smith notched his seventh 20-plus point performance and his fourth double-double of the season, scoring 24 on the Tigers while shooting 8-of-12 from the floor and 6-of-11 from the foul line while snagging a game-leading 10 rebounds.
- Hardy produced his best performance since joining this semester, scoring 22 points while shooting 7-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
Other Notables
- The Barons controlled the boards by outrebounding the Tigers 44-35.
- Brewton-Parker produced 24 points by gathering 12 steals on 21 turnovers from Voorhees.
- Saturday's contest is the second time this season that BPC has held their opponent under the 50-point threshold.
