Volleyball Opens Season with 3-0 Loss to Coastal Georgia

BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- The Brewton-Parker Volleyball Program opened the 2022 season with a road contest at Coastal Georgia on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Barons (0-1) fell to the Mariners (1-0) in three sets with scores of 25-6, 25-10, and 25-17.

How It Happened

  • The Mariners jumped out to a swift 5-0 lead before the Lady Barons managed to get a point on the board. BPC struggled to get an attack formed in set one, recording just four kills while Coastal Georgia tallied 12 on the way to securing set one 25-6.
  • In set two, Coastal Georgia remained dominant with an opening 11-straight points before Keelie Jordan secured the first point for BPC. The Lady Barons totaled five kills while the Mariners recorded 15. CG managed to secure a 2-0 lead after closing out the second set with a 25-10 win.
  • Despite improvements in the scoreline from Brewton-Parker, Coastal Georgia secured the third set 25-17. BPC tallied seven kills while CG totaled 12.

Inside The Statistics

  • As a team, Brewton-Parker totaled 16 kills on 14 errors while Coastal Georgia recorded 39 kills on just eight errors.
  • BPC recorded a .033 attacking percentage while CG notched a .477 percentage.
  • Naomi Taake led the way with five kills while Kaitlin Reynolds and Taylor Scarbrough both produced four apiece.
  • Defensively, Scarborough recorded two blocks followed by Taake with one.
  • Tanner Lallmann finished the match with 10 digs while Katy Mathis tallied 13 assists.
