WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Brewton-Parker Volleyball Program traveled north to compete in a two-day tournament hosted by Carolina University (N.C.).
The Lady Barons (0-3) dropped a pair of matches on Friday with a 3-0 loss to Truett McConnell (Ga.) and a 3-1 loss to the hosts.
How It Happened vs. Truett McConnell
- The Bears opened the match with a dominant 25-9 opening set. TMU and BPC were level early, but the Bears ran away with the first set of play.
- Brewton-Parker responded well with a competitive set two, falling 25-22. The Lady Barons fought hard and managed to lead the set by two points until the Bears took back control at the halfway mark.
- Truett McConnell sealed the 3-0 sweep with a 25-19 set three victory. BPC led the set early and managed to remain in reach for a majority of the third set.
Inside The Statistics
- Truett McConnell's attack produced 36 kills while Brewton-Parker's totaled 23.
- The Lady Barons totaled three blocks to the Bears' one.
- TMU recorded a .307 attacking percentage while BPC's was just .160.
- Kaitlin Reynolds led BPC with seven kills followed by Kinsley Jordan with five and Jala Merriweather with four.
- Reynolds notched three aces followed by Tanner Lallmann and Naomi Taake with two each.
- Defensively, Taake totaled two blocks while Katy Mathis recorded six digs.
- Mathis also tallies 13 assists for the match.
How It Happened vs. Carolina University
- Carolina opened with a 25-14 win in set one.
- The Lady Barons answered with a 25-23 win in set two, leveling the match 1-1.
- Unfortunately, BPC slipped in sets three and four, 25-12 and 25-19 to drop the match.
- Brewton-Parker closed out day one with a 3-1 loss to the tournament hosts.

- Carolina's attack dominated with 49 kills while Brewton-Parker produced 27.
- The Bruins' hitting percentage was just .183 with the Lady Barons hitting just .064 for the match.
- Reynolds led the second match for BPC with nine kills followed by Taake with 6.
- Mathis notched three aces and 24 assists as well.
- Lallmann and Reynolds both recorded 13 digs each.
