Barons Drop Match Against Tough UCF Knights Rising, 3-0

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker esports challenged Central Florida's Knights Rising in Rocket League action on Monday night.

The Barons fell in a 3-0 match against the tough UCF team.

Central Florida is historically known for producing top-ranked esports teams with Rocket League included as one of the top competitive games. BPC's opponent on Monday night was one of several Knights programs that competes in the game.

Game One: Brewton-Parker 1, UCF Knights Rising 9

UCF opened the game with six unanswered goals in the first two and a half minutes. BPC finally found the back of the net as Ruty Patel scored with 1:39 left on the clock to move the deficit to five, down 6-1. The Knights gathered three more goals to close out the game, winning 9-1.

Game Two: Brewton-Parker 5, UCF Knights Rising 8

The Barons improved in game two, scoring a total of five goals while allowing eight from the Knights. Glendon Russell opened the scoring to give BPC an early 1-0 lead just 15 seconds into the game.

Central Florida answered with five consecutive goals to lead 5-1 before Maximus Pearson netted the second goal for Brewton-Parker with 2:23 left. The Knights jumped out to a six-goal lead, scoring three unanswered goals.

The Barons closed out the game with goals from Patel, Russell, and Pearson in the final 30 seconds of play. Unfortunately, BPC ran out of time for a potential comeback. The Barons fell 8-5 in game two to move to 0-2 in the best-of-five series.

Game Three: Brewton-Parker 2, UCF Knights Rising 3

Brewton-Parker battled in game three of the night, allowing just three goals. UCF opened with a 2-0 lead, but the Barons held tough by keeping the Knights from finding the net for the next few minutes.

Patel gathered a goal with 1:13 left, sparking life back into the Barons. Central Florida deflated the Barons with a score in the final 30 seconds to lead 3-1. BPC did not go down without a fight as Patel scored a goal with seven seconds remaining which proved not to be enough.

The Barons move to 1-3 on the season and will now look forward to next Monday as the next opponent will be revealed later this week in the Swiss Format.
