Box Score DALTON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Men's Basketball wrapped up regular season play on the road in Dalton, Ga. with one final SSAC matchup against Dalton (Ga.) on Saturday.
The Barons (2-28, 1-17 SSAC) dropped the matchup against the Roadrunners (13-15, 7-11 SSAC), 69-61 after opening with a seven-point lead at the half.
How It Happened
The Barons opened the game on a 20-3 run during the first six minutes of play with Aaron Udell scoring eight of BPC's points. Dalton State began chipping away at the deficit with a 7-0 run to pull within six points from Brewton-Parker with 10:31 remaining in the first half.
Brewton-Parker pulled back to a double-digit deficit as Antrell Williams knocked down a trey ball for a 29-19 lead with 6:31 left on the clock. After the Barons built to a 12-point lead, the Roadrunners closed out the half with five unanswered points to knock the deficit back into the single digits. BPC remained in control of the score at the break, leading 34-27.
Both teams opened the second half trading scores down the floor with Brewton-Parker remaining in control of the score with a six-point lead just over three minutes into the half. Dalton State scored back-to-back threes at the 16:09 and 14:32 mark to level the game at 42-42. BPC answered with five points, but the Roadrunners found five points for themselves to tie the game at 47-47 with 11:31 remaining.
Dalton State captured the lead with a jumper to lead 49-47. The Barons tied the game with a jumper from Cameron Cherry, but the Roadrunners utilized two free throws to reclaim the lead. Two buckets from Chance Hatcher and one from Udell gave the Barons a two-point lead with 6:10 on the clock. Dalton State found a way to pull back into the lead with four minutes left to play and did not look back.
The Roadrunners jumped out to a seven-point lead with a 7-0 run. After a bucket from Udell to knock down the deficit to five, DSC gathered five points in the final minute to secure the win by an eight-point margin. The Roadrunners ended up sealing the win with the 69-61 lead.
