CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Brewton-Parker men's wrestling hit the road north to Kentucky for the first set of duals for the 2022-23 campaign at the Campbellsville Duals over the weekend.
The Barons move to a 2-5 record, snagging the first two wins of the season in dual action. The 42-12 win over Pikeville (Ky.) and the 30-21 win over Williams Baptist (Ark.) highlighted the weekend.
Brewton-Parker opened with a 46-6 loss against the hosts on Friday afternoon. Ethan Larsen was the lone Baron to earn points with a fall (1:17) over Samuel Hatcher in the 197lb match. The Barons followed up with the 42-12 win over Pikeville picking up six forfeits and a fall (4:45) for Mekhi Martin in the 184lb match over Randall West.
Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) downed BPC 39-9 to open action on Saturday morning. The Barons picked up points from Tanner Castillo's (141) 13-7 decision over Drake Montelongo and Tre Stone's (157) injury win over Jesus Avila.
Following the dual against LWC, Brewton-Parker faced Rochester (Mich.) in a 41-18 loss. BPC picked up a forfeit win at 141 before Bradley Owens (149) took down Emilio Mangrobang with a fall (6:21). The Barons capped off the dual with a fall (2:03) from Ethan Larsen (197) over Durell Kline.
The Barons faced the hosts yet again and fell 54-6 to the Tigers in the second meeting of the weekend. Owens (149) picked up the only points by way of an injury from Nick Moore. Brewton-Parker managed to find their second dual win over Williams Baptist with a 30-21 victory.
The Barons gathered forfeit wins at 133 and at 157. Owens (149) picked up a win over Ross Womack by way of a 15-9 decision. Followed by Charlie Henkel (184) with a fall (4:01) over Kade Carter. Larsen (197) recorded a 3-2 decision over Kendric Gordon while Wilkinson Saul pinned (0:16) Micah Oltmanns to cap off the dual.
In the final dual of the weekend, BPC took on Lourdes (Ohio) and fell 44-10. Castillo (141) picked up a 12-3 major decision over Landon Engle while Owens (149) picked up a forfeit win.
