AMERICUS, Ga. – Brewton-Parker women's basketball returned to play for one final contest of the 2022 calendar year with an exhibition at NCAA Division II opponent Georgia Southwestern on Friday evening.
The Lady Barons (9-5) battled against a tough Canes (10-1) team that is currently ranked No. 13 according to the latest WBCA DII Polls. BPC, unfortunately, fell to GSW in a 70-60 loss.
"Tonight was the best performance we've had as a program," Head Coach Steve Edwards said. "We were on the road at the number 13-ranked team in the nation at the DII level and we had a chance to win late in the fourth quarter."
"We defended well and we played with great effort on both sides of the ball," Edwards added. "Tonight's game was an exhibition, but we will use our effort from today as our foundation for this upcoming semester."

- After an opening bucket from the Canes, Brewton-Parker opened with a three-pointer from A'Aliyah Clay to take an early lead.
- For the next few minutes, both teams traded scoring trips and flipped leads back and forth.
- Georgia Southwestern closed out the final few minutes of play by outscoring the Lady Barons 18-7 to lead 27-15 after the first period.

- Williams opened the fourth quarter with a trey to level the score, 50-50 before Daisha Terry scored a free throw to give the Lady Barons a one-point edge with 8:53 on the clock.
- Both teams traded a score each before GSW jumped to an eight-point advantage with a 13-4 run over a six-minute span.
- Unfortunately, the Lady Barons were unable to recover by scoring just three points in the final two minutes of play.
- The Canes held off BPC and finished with five points to close the game with a 70-60 lead.
