MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker men's soccer hosted Middle Georgia on Tuesday night to continue SSAC action. The Barons also honored eight senior student-athletes prior to the match.
The Barons (2-9-2, 2-3-1 SSAC) secured the Senior Night win with three unanswered goals against the Knights (1-12-1, 1-5-1 SSAC) in a second-half comeback effort. Prior to kick-off, the eight students that were honored were Jamair Stewart, Jacob Shield, Garrett Lane, Elijah Trujillo, Jade Oliver, Jashad Howard, Cesar Lopez, and Joshua Daughtry.
"Step one is done," Head Coach Bob Neumann said. "It's nice to get a win, and after the lackluster performance in the first half, credit goes to the guys for getting things right early in the second half."
"Rivalry matches are always difficult and credit to Middle Georgia for their work throughout the match," Neumann added. "The seniors deserved this, as did the rest of the program. We are now looking toward Life University on Thursday."
How It Happened | First Half
- The first half started out stale for both sides as minimal offense was produced.
- Brewton-Parker rendered just one shot on frame in the half, coming off the foot of Derventz Altidor in the 24th minute.
- Middle Georgia's lone shot on goal found the back of the net in the 44th minute, securing a 1-0 advantage just before the break.
How It Happened | Second Half
- Brewton-Parker opened the second half with a pair of early shots on goal, pressuring the Knights' defense swiftly.
- BPC found the equalizing goal and an offensive spark as Altidor slotted a shot past the MGA keeper with the assist coming from Lopez in the 51st minute.
- The Barons returned with another goal just three minutes later in the 54th minute as Oliver managed to find the back of the net.
- Brewton-Parker produced its third goal of the night from the penalty spot when Shield found himself in a prime position to put the Barons up two goals.
- In the 59th minute, Shield found the corner of the goal off a penalty kick to give BPC a 3-1 advantage which was eventually held on to for the win.

- BPC narrowly edged out MGA 12-11 in total shots and 7-5 in shots on goal.
- Stewart earned the start as the Barons' goalkeeper, producing two saves in 90 minutes.
- Altidor was the offensive workhorse for Brewton-Parker with four shots overall and three on goal with one finding the net.
- Shield's penalty kick was his third goal of the season and is 3-for-3 from the penalty spot.
- Oliver secured his second goal of the season.
