Men's Soccer Defeated By Warner 2-1 in Hard Fought Match

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -- Brewton-Parker men's soccer fell defeated on Saturday night in a close 2-1 loss to Warner (Fla.).

Unfortunately, the Barons move to 0-3-1 on the season after struggling to find an offensive spark that would set them ablaze. However, BPC was able to find the back of the net in the second half off the foot of Anton Van Efferink.

How It Happened

  • Despite the struggles to score, the Lions pressured the Barons from early on.
  • Warner opened the scoring in the 31st minute, giving themselves a 1-0 lead while headed to the break.
  • The Royals moved the score to 2-0 after knocking in a ball in the 43:14.
  • In the first 45 minutes, Warner outshot Brewton-Parker 9-3.
  • Van Efferink gathered a goal back for the Barons, scoring from a freekick in a very tough area outside of the 18-yd box.
  • Van Efferink played the ball across the face of the keeper and was able to connect on the far-side side netting of the goal.
  • The Royals outshot the barons 15-8 with the Barons recording shots on goal.
