Box Score TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Brewton-Parker men's soccer program captured their first win of the season and first for Head Coach Bob Neumann in a 3-2 road battle against Florida College on Thursday night.
The Barons (1-5-1) utilized three late second-half goals to surpass the Falcons (3-4-1) for the victory.
Coach Neumann shared his thoughts after the victory. "Today was a difficult challenge for us, especially with playing conditions that were not favorable," Neumann said. "I am happy the boys found a way to secure the goals in the end. We're hoping that this win is a first of many for the remainder of the season."
How It Happened
- The first 45 minutes resulted in a 0-0 scoreline with both sides nearly even in opportunities as the Barons outshot the Falcons 11-10.
- Florida College struck first in the 53rd minute, taking a 1-0 lead.
- Brewton-Parker continued to build pressure offensively and ultimately would not be denied from equalizing in the 77th minute from a solo effort from Samuel Figueiro.
- In less than two minutes, the Barons found another goal to move 2-1. Kevin Neubauer slotted home the goal in the 79th minute with the help of Caleb Summerfield.
- In the 82nd minute, Brewton-Parker found yet another opportunity to score and beat the Falcon keeper. Figueiro notched a brace, scoring with the assistance of Neubauer to give the Barons a 3-1 lead.
- Florida College responded quickly with a goal of their own in the 86th minute, moving the score to 3-2.
- With just a few minutes remaining, the Barons battled to keep the lead and secured the victory.
Inside The Statistics
- On the offensive side of the ball, both teams were just about even. Florida College notched a total of 21 shots while Brewton-Parker tallied 20 attempts.
- However, the Barons were more accurate with 11 shots on frame while the Falcons recorded seven.
- Figuerio led the offensive efforts with the two goals, three shots on goal, and six total shots.
- Neubauer bagged a goal and an assist in addition to his three shots on frame while Summerfield gathered the second assist for the Barons.
