Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – The Brewton-Parker men's basketball program returned to play on Wednesday night with a matchup against Coastal Georgia.
The Barons (0-4) fell to the Mariners (2-1) in a low-scoring 54-47 loss in Gillis Gym.
How It Happened
- The Barons opened the scoring with Vaquarious Brown scoring to give BPC the early lead. The Mariners quickly responded to equalize the game before taking a two-point lead of their own. After much back-and-forth for most of the first half, the Barons managed to advance to a five-point lead with quick scores from Aaron Udell and TJ Taylor. Antrell Williams boosted the lead to 25-18 with four minutes remaining. The Barons eventually closed out the first half with a 27-24 lead.
- After opening the second half with a five-point lead, the Barons' lead slipped away as Coastal Georgia tied the game at 29-29 with 14 minutes remaining. The Mariners then captured the lead with three straight scores to lead 37-32 with 12 minutes remaining. Coastal Georgia continued to add to their lead pulling away to nine points over the Barons. Brewton-Parker went on a 7-0 run to pull within one point of the Mariners before equalizing with two free throws from Williams. Back-to-back three-pointers from Coastal Georgia quickly made it a two-score game and the Mariners would not let up the lead to close out the game. Coastal Georgia closed out the game with a 54-47 lead to secure the victory.

- Two Barons notched double-digit points on the night as Williams and Udell both gathered 13 points apiece. Williams also led with nine rebounds.
