Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -- The Brewton-Parker men's soccer program landed short in narrow fashion to No. 13-ranked Dalton State (Ga.) on Thursday night.
The Barons (4-10-1, 2-3 SSAC) dropped the match 2-1 despite taking an early lead over the highly ranked Roadrunners (9-3-1, 3-1 SSAC).
Head Coach Bob Neumann shared his thoughts after the match. "Today was difficult," Neumann said. "Dalton is a top team, and they did well to come from behind. I am excited for the opportunity to get things right on Saturday."
How It Happened
- The first half of action was all Barons as Brewton-Parker managed to break the 0-0 stalemate in the 32nd minute with a goal from the penalty spot. The Barons were fortunate enough to be given the chance as Dalton State was credited with a handball within the 18-yard box.
- Samuel Figueiro netted his sixth goal of the season to give the Barons the 1-0 lead, converting the penalty opportunity.
- Offensively, the Barons produced more chances in the first 45 minutes as they outshot the Roadrunners 5-2.
- In the second half, Dalton State attacked heavily outshooting the Barons 7-1 in the first 20 minutes or so.
- In the 67th minute, the Barons found themselves in yet another fortunate spot as the Roadrunners committed a foul in the 18-yard box. Figueiro was called up to take the penalty kick for Brewton-Parker but the Dalton State keeper reacted correctly to the shot and denied the Barons a two-goal lead.
- In the 76th minute, the Roadrunners broke through to tie 1-1. Dalton State took advantage of a quick throw-in while the Barons were reshaping the backline.
- The Roadrunner tacked on another within minutes as they took a 2-1 lead in the 81st minute. Dalton State was able to keep the Barons away to secure the win.
- The Roadrunners produced 12 shots in the second half compared to the Barons' three.
Inside The Statistics
- As a team, Dalton State recorded a total of 14 shots with 10 on goal while Brewton-Parker tallied eight shots and four on goal.
- Figueiro led the BPC attack with two total shots, both of which were on frame. He was also the lone Baron to score on the night.
- Both Luke Graston and Kevin Neubauer picked up a shot on goal apiece.
- Jamair Stewart gathered eight saves in 90 minutes of play. In the match, Stewart made several huge saves to keep the Barons within reach.

- Dalton State recorded seven corner kicks while Brewton-Parker recorded three.
- The Roadrunners tallied 18 fouls with the Barons gathering 16.
