Men's Soccer Captures 3-0 Victory Over Trinity Baptist

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -- The Brewton-Parker men's soccer program captured a 3-0 win over Trinity Baptist (Fla.) on Tuesday night.

The Barons (4-9-1) managed to boost past the Eagles (2-6) for the final non-conference match of the season.

How It Happened

  • The Barons opened the match outshooting the Eagles 4-1 before breaking through in the 28th minute to lead 1-0. Samuel Figueiro dribbled through the TBC defense and slotted home the goal in the right corner to put the Barons up one on the scoreboard.
  • Both sides were held scoreless for the remainder of the half. Brewton-Parker closed out the first 45 minutes of action with an additional five shots while allowing two.
  • In the first half, BPC outshot TBC 10-3.
  • To open the second half, both sides traded solo efforts before the Barons increased their lead in the 57th minute. Caleb Summerfield found the back of the net with an aerial effort off a corner from Kevin Neubauer to give BPC the 2-0 lead.
  • Brewton-Parker held off the Trinity Baptist attack for the rest of the match while also finding one additional goal in the 85th minute. Figueiro netted his second of the night off a cross from Summerfield to lead 3-0 over TBC.
  • The Barons closed out the half with a total of 12 shots while Trinity Baptist garnered seven.

Inside The Statistics

  • Brewton-Parker totaled 22 shots on the evening with nine on goal while allowing Trinity Baptist to record 10 total shots with six on frame.
  • Figueiro led the BPC attack with a total of seven shots and four shots on goal. He now has five goals on the season after tonight's two-goal performance.
  • Landon Brafford also produced some chances for the Barons as he gathered three shots on goal on three attempts.
  • Summerfield netted his first goal and second assist of the season while Neubauer picked up his second assist of the season.
  • In his third start of the season, Garrett Lane notched two saves in nearly 60 minutes of play before Jake McCarthy was able to make his first appearance of the season, closing out the match with three saves.

  • Tuesday night's win marks the eighth-straight win against Trinity Baptist. The Barons own a perfect 8-0 overall series record over the Eagles dating back to 2006.
