Coach Knight comes to Mount Vernon after a 5 year stint at Southeastern University (Fla.) as an athlete and assistant coach where he coached four National Champions, 24 NAIA All-Americans, 5 Conference Champions, 30-plus National Qualifiers, numerous Academic All-Americans and two team trophy finishes. Knight is also a recipient of the 2025-26 Appalachian Athletic Conference coach of the year
Off the mat, Coach Knight has helped lead teams that were listed amongst the 2023 National Wrestling Coaches' NAIA Men's Team Scholar All-America Top 15 list with nine Scholar-All Americans, and the fourth highest team GPA in the nation. And most recently spearheaded Brewton-Parker's Men's Wrestling into a top 25 academic finish for the 2025-26 season
As a wrestler, Knight was a decorated four-year starter and team captain for Southeastern. He earned honors such as the Mid-South Conference Champion of Character, Academic All-MSC, MSC Tournament placer, and appeared in the individual rankings for the NAIA Top-20. In high school, Knight was a four-year letterman, AAU All-American, FHSAA 3A State Placer, three-time District Champion, and two-time All-County athlete. Knight was honored as the 2018 Broward County Most Outstanding Wrestler, three-time state qualifier, and named to the Broward vs. Dade All-Star Team.
Additionally, Knight serves as a Commissioned Officer for the United States Army where he leads sustainment and logistics operations for the Florida Army National Guard. He has been an award recipient of multiple Military Awards such as the Florida Meritorious Service Ribbon, Army Achievement medal to name a few as a reliable high performing soldier.
