Brewton-Parker Christian University Men's and Women's cross country programs are preparing for the 2026 season with a young group of runners and expectations of continued improvement under Head Coach James Frank.
After seeing the program improve from year to year, Frank enters the new season looking for growth that extends beyond performances on the course.
"This year's goal, same as every year, is to be better in every facet," Frank said. "Better spiritually. Better academically. Better socially. Better athletically. The team has performed better every year and I see this team continuing that trend."
Youth will play a major role for the Barons this season. Brewton-Parker welcomes 10 freshmen to the men's team, while the women's program adds three new runners. Despite having several new faces, Frank believes the group has the potential to make significant strides throughout the season.
"All of them will be the best they have ever been," Frank said. "School records will fall! I expect big improvements from all of them."
For the men, Mason LaFavor, Brendan McMillan and Eathyn Davis are expected to take on leadership roles and will be athletes to watch throughout the year. On the women's side, Frank pointed to Izzy Edge and Jayla Fouse as runners who could make an impact for the Lady Barons.
With a young roster and plenty of room for growth, Brewton-Parker enters the season looking to continue the upward trend Frank has seen within the program.
The Barons will get their first opportunity to compete Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Julius Johnson Invitational in Macon, Georgia, at the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.Â
