Mount Vernon, GA— Brewton-Parker Men's Soccer battled Truett McConnell University to a 1-1 draw Wednesday.
Truett McConnell struck early, with Pablo Farrona finding the back of the net in the seventh minute to give the Bears a 1-0 advantage. The Barons created several opportunities of their own but entered halftime trailing by one.
Brewton-Parker wasted little time responding after the break. Just 11 seconds into the second half, Aitor Novoa scored the equalizer off an assist from Biel Ibanez, bringing the match level at 1-1. It marked Novoa's first goal of the match, while Ibanez picked up the assist.
The Barons' defense held firm for the remainder of the contest despite continued pressure from Truett McConnell. Goalkeeper Thomas Hernadez delivered a strong performance in net, recording 13 saves while allowing just one goal over the full 90 minutes.
BPCU finished with 11 shots and five shots on goal, while Truett McConnell recorded 29 shots with 14 on frame. Novoa and Ilyas Nazih each recorded three shots to lead the Baron attack, with Novoa placing two on goal.
Brewton-Parker will now turn its attention to its next road test as the Barons travel to Waleska, Georgia, on Saturday, Aug. 29, to face Reinhardt University at 6:30 p.m.
