MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons baseball team traveled to Pulaski, Tenn., to take on the Firehawks of the University of Tennessee Southern in a road conference game on April 18, 2026. The Barons defeated the Firehawks 5-3 in the final game of the series.
The Barons scored first when Angel Amador lifted a sacrifice fly in the third to bring home Jihad Guy for the game's first run, then Raul Morales added a solo home run to left in the fourth for a 2-0 advantage. Tennessee Southern answered in the bottom half of the fourth with a two-run single through the left side to tie the game at 2-2.
Brewton-Parker moved back in front in the fifth. Guy again helped set the table, and Fred Diaz reached on a fielder's choice that brought him home for a 3-2 lead. The Barons then created separation in the seventh, capitalizing on traffic on the bases before Diaz delivered again with a two-run single. Tennessee Southern trimmed the margin to 5-3 in the bottom of the inning, scoring on a wild pitch to cut the lead, but would be unable to complete the late-game rally.
The Barons will return to Mount Vernon to host their final homestand and series of the year, hosting the Night Hawks of Thomas University on April 23, 2026.
