MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons softball team hosted the Eagles of Faulkner University (Ala.) in a SSAC doubleheader on April 11, 2026. The Barons fell short in game one, dropping it 2-1, and were unable to keep up with the Eagles' offense in game two, losing 7-1.
The first game turned on a pair of middle-inning swings for Faulkner. Madelyn Becker opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single that brought home Addyson Jarman. Brewton-Parker answered immediately in the bottom half when Samantha Mathews grounded out to second base, allowing Morgan Willingham to score and tie the game at 1-1. Faulkner regained the lead in the fifth, when Kelbi Johnson doubled home Abrianna Davis for what proved to be the winning run.
Game two saw Faulkner break through in the third inning. Abby Terrell singled in Addyson Jarman for the first run, and Becker followed with an RBI double to make it 2-0. The decisive stretch came in the fourth, when Chloe Davidson doubled in Bailea Boone and Jarman added a run-scoring double as part of a four-run inning that pushed the margin to 6-0.
Brewton-Parker got on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Shelby Aiken doubled, and Lucas followed with an RBI single to trim the deficit to 6-1. The Eagles would add on at the top of the seventh to seal the game and end the Barons' hopes for a comeback.
The Barons will prepare to travel to Lawrenceville, Ga., on April 15, 2026, for a midweek non-conference doubleheader against the (RV) Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett.
