Barons Split with Eagles

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons baseball team traveled to Montgomery Ala, facing off against the Faulkner University Eagles in a three-game series. After dropping the first game on Friday, the Barons split day two on February 28, 2026. The Barons struggled in the first game, dropping it 2-12 in the seven-inning opener before rallying in game two and winning 11-10 after an eighth-inning rally.

Game one saw the Barons jump on the Eagles early, scoring all their runs in the top of the first. Anthony Savarese ripped a double down the left-field line to set the tone, and Michael Son followed with a run-scoring single to right-center as Brewton-Parker pushed two runs across for a quick 2-0 advantage. Faulkner immediately answered with a run in the bottom half and tied the game in the second, then moved in front for good in the fourth before breaking things open in the fifth. The Eagles tied up the game after the second and scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead before breaking the game open with an explosive eight-run fifth inning. The Barons were unable to recover and dropped game one.

Game two saw the Barons trailing 10-6 after five innings before mounting their decisive push in the top of the eighth. Brewton-Parker loaded the bases and began to chip away before Michael Son delivered the pivotal blow, lining a two-run single as part of the five-run frame that flipped the score to 11-10. Game two started with the Barons striking first on a busy opening inning, pushing across two runs when Caleb Strott reached on a fielder's choice that extended the inning and allowed runners to advance. Faulkner responded immediately at the bottom of the first, taking a 3-2 lead, and continued to add runs in the third and fourth innings. The Barons' bullpen settled in, holding the Eagles scoreless over the final four innings and giving the offense time to mount its comeback.

The Barons will be back in action on March 3, 2026, for a midweek road game against Reinhardt University before returning home for a conference series against Blue Mountain University.
