MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons flag football team hosted the Huntingdon College Hawks in Mount Vernon, Ga., on February 12, 2026. Despite a strong defensive outing, the Barons' offense struggled, and they dropped the game 13-6.
The Barons nearly matched Huntingdon across the stat sheet, edging their opponent 177-174 in total yards and earning 10 first downs to Huntingdon's nine. But a Huntingdon rushing touchdown with 15 seconds left in the second quarter stood as the deciding play after both defenses controlled the entire second half.
Offensively, Johnson led the Barons by completing 12 of 30 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown while also leading the ground game with 49 rushing yards on 12 attempts. The Barons' balanced effort on 45 plays produced 59 rushing yards and 118 passing yards, but Huntingdon's defense tightened in the red zone and capitalized on Brewton-Parker's lone turnover to maintain their one-score lead.
Head Coach Sheldon Miller reflected on the game, saying, "We are continuing to grow at a fast pace. We played well enough to win at times today. Another strong showing for our defense. Offensively, we will continue to get better as we move forward. All the glory goes to God."
The Barons will look to bounce back with two home games upcoming. Hosting Florida Gateway College on February 18, 2026, as they look to get back into the win column and improve their 2-2 record.
