Lady Barons Fall to Wolf Pack

NEW ORLEANS, La. -  The Brewton-Parker Christian University Lady Barons built an early lead but struggled to sustain it, falling 63-50 to Loyola University (La.) Wolf Pack on Saturday afternoon at The Den, as cold shooting and turnovers swung the game in favor of the home side.

The Lady Barons jumped in front 15-7 in the first quarter behind an early surge from Andrian Stewart, who knocked down a jumper to cap the run. Loyola answered with a 10-0 stretch to close the quarter, taking a 17-15 lead on a 3-pointer from Madi Walters in the final minute. From there, Brewton-Parker spent the remainder of the contest trying to chase down the deficit.

Loyola gradually tightened its grip in the second quarter, using a balanced attack and perimeter shooting to create separation. A 3-pointer from Tiarra McPipe pushed the margin to 26-19 midway through the period, and the hosts carried a 34-27 advantage into halftime. Brewton-Parker generated some momentum when Jakayla Peeples connected from long range to cut the deficit to 32-25, but the Lady Barons were unable to string together enough stops and scores to fully erase the gap. Brewton-Parker continued to battle in the fourth quarter but could not crack Loyola's defense.

Stewart paced Brewton-Parker with 13 points and nine rebounds, providing an interior presence and key buckets during the Lady Barons' early first-quarter push. Kaziah Terrell added 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and grabbed three boards.

Head Coach Steve Edwards reflected on the team's outing, saying, "I loved our energy today. We were solid defensively for the majority of the game. Loyola is a talented team, and we had opportunities to really make it interesting. We aren't far away from winning. We will continue to grind, and we will be there in the end."

The Lady Barons will look to regroup at home when they host the Firehawks of the University of Tennessee Southern on January 29, 2026, at Gillis Gymnasium. The Lady Barons will need to be ready for a red-hot opponent coming to Mount Vernon, as they prepare for the final stretch of their season.
