Barons Drop Conference Opener to Rams

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In a challenging conference opener, the Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons faced a tough match against the University of Mobile Rams on September 5, 2025, at Mount Vernon, GA. The Barons were defeated in straight sets with scores of 10-25, 16-25, and 15-25.

The first set saw the Barons struggling to gain momentum as the Rams took an early lead, closing out the set 25-10. The second set saw the Barons try to claw back the momentum, with Brewton-Parker improving their performance slightly, though still ending the set at 16-25 in favor of Mobile. The final set continued in a similar vein with the Barons attempting a rally but ultimately falling 15-25 to the Rams.

Key performances from the Barons included Andriana de Jesus, who led the team with five kills and contributed two aces. Raphaela Felisberto made notable efforts with one kill, one block, and a team-high 12 assists while also sharing the team lead in digs with Taylor Lamontagne and Claire Slocumb, each earning 5 and 6 digs, respectively. Alana Garcia, Taylor Lamontagne, and Andriana de Jesus contributed to the serving game with a total of 6 aces among them.

Head Coach Obed Quiles shared his thoughts on the performance, "We didn't play our game tonight. We know we are capable of playing at a higher level. We have the chance to bounce back tomorrow against Faulkner and will turn our focus to that."

Looking ahead, the Barons are scheduled to face Faulkner University Eagles at Gillis Gymnasium on September 6, 2025. The team currently holds a season record of 1-4. As they move forward, the Barons will aim to bounce back from the loss and try to reset their season with a win.
