Barons Fall to Firehawks

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons faced a tough conference soccer clash against the University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks on September 20, 2025. The match, held in Pulaski, Tenn., concluded with the Barons losing 4-0 to the Firehawks.

The game began with aggressive attempts from both sides, but it was the Firehawks who capitalized on their opportunities. The Firehawks carried a 3-0 lead into halftime. Brewton-Parker's defense, led by goalie Gerardo Galicia Morales, made significant efforts, but the offensive front struggled to convert its chances into goals.

Head Coach Bob Nuemann, "We have to be better at taking chances when we create them. We had three or four excellent early opportunities to score, and that made the difference. It's difficult to suggest, but there were some real positives off the back of this weekend, including the return of some key players from injuries. As we start to settle into our rhythm, I have big expectations for the upcoming conference season."

Looking forward, the Barons are set to play their next game on September 25, 2025, against Pensacola Christian College in Mount Vernon. Currently, the team's overall record stands at 1-6, with a conference record of 0-2. Coach Nuemann remains hopeful about overcoming the team's early challenges and achieving success in the upcoming games of the conference season.
