Barons Steal Series over Knights

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In an exciting conference doubleheader showdown on April 25, 2025, the Brewton-Parker Barons displayed dominant form by defeating the Middle Georgia State Knights in both games, with scores of 8-7 in game one and 13-6 in game two, in Cochran, GA. The Barons, leveraging strong offensive performances and strategic pitching, improved their season record to 16-29.

Game one was led by the Barons' offense, featuring J. Reid Phillips and Marquette Gibson. Phillips scored three runs along with three RBIs, and Gibson had two RBIs. Brandon Russell started on the mound and kept the game close, but it was Bryce Morley coming in relief in the sixth who was credited with the win. The Barons carried the momentum of their victory in game one into game two, stealing the series.

Game two kicked off with a bang as Jordan Rahn smashed a 3-run homer in the opening inning, setting a powerful tone for the Barons. This early momentum was further boosted by Jeremi Lara, who delivered a critical 3-run homer in the fifth inning, securing a substantial lead for Brewton-Parker. The team consistently scored throughout the game, reflecting their preparedness and aggressive approach at the plate.

Key contributions came from players across the lineup. Carson Kirby and Kendell Wade each added two runs, while Jack Morris and Jeremi Lara were instrumental, contributing runs and multiple RBIs. The Barons showcased their batting depth as eight different players crossed the plate during the game. Grant Cochran was the starting pitcher, but it was Jack Hulse's exceptional relief performance, delivering 6.1 innings with eight strikeouts and no earned runs, that truly highlighted the team's defensive capabilities.

The series ends the Barons' season with a win, as they look to build on the lessons learned and carry them into recruiting and the offseason.
