Barons Split with Fillies at Home

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In a doubleheader showdown at home, the Barons split with the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Fillies. Dropping game one 5-1 and taking game two with a final score of 4-2 on April 17, 2025, in Mount Vernon, Georgia. The split took the Barons' record to 17-22-1.

In game one, Tori Wright scored the lone run for Brewton-Parker, showcasing her speed and agility on the bases. Abbey Flowers contributed to the team's effort with an RBI, but it was not enough to secure a victory. Kaylee Odum, Brewton-Parker's starting pitcher, displayed resilience through her complete game, allowing five runs and striking out one across seven innings.

The Barons established a strong lead early in game two, scoring three runs in the first inning, a lead which they maintained throughout the game. Hailey Gabrich was a standout player, delivering three hits and driving in a crucial run. Alongside Gabrich, Abbey Flowers and Alyssa Usrey contributed significantly to the team's offense, each adding valuable hits and RBIs that propelled the Barons to victory.

Natalie O'Neal started on the mound for Brewton-Parker, playing a pivotal role in keeping the ABAC hitters at bay and securing the win for her team. Sammantha Matthews came into the seventh to get the save and finish off the Fillies.

The Barons are gearing up for their next challenge as they prepare to face Spartanburg Methodist College on April 22 in Spartanburg, S.C. As they look ahead, the team remains focused on maintaining its momentum and building toward the postseason.
