Barons Split With Night Hawks on the Road

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - On a sunny afternoon at Armory Field in Thomasville, GA, the Brewton-Parker Barons softball team took on the Night Hawks of Thomas Universtiy, splitting the doubleheader. The Barons took game one 2-0 before dropping game two 1-0.

In game one, Morgan Willingham and Hailey Gabrich led the Barons' offense, each crossing the plate to score the game's only runs. Kaylee Odum and Tori Wright contributed key RBIs, each earning one to secure the team's victory. Odum, who also took the mound as the starting pitcher, supplied a dominant complete game, allowing just eight hits and two walks while striking out 2 Thomas players over seven innings.

A. Adams scored the only run of game two from Thomas in the fourth inning. Adams advanced on a series of passed balls, ultimately crossing home plate to notch the decisive score. Although the Barons played a robust defensive game, they could not capitalize on their offensive opportunities. Sam Matthews, the starting pitcher for Brewton-Parker, delivered a commendable performance from the mound, holding the opponent to just one run.

Looking ahead, Brewton-Parker aims to bounce back in their upcoming game against Point University on April 16, 2025, in Mount Vernon, GA. The team currently stands with 14 wins, 21 losses, and one tie for this season. The Barons will seek to refine their strategies and improve their standings in their continued pursuit of victory.
