Barons Swept in Road Doubleheader

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In a tough doubleheader on April 12, 2025, the Brewton-Parker Barons lost two challenging non-conference games against the Spartanburg Methodist Pioneers with a final score of 12-2 in game one and 16-8 in game two in Spartanburg, S.C. Despite spirited efforts from the Barons, they could not claim victory over the Pioneers.

In Game One, their hitters, Zack Carlton and Dylan Speakman, pushed through and scored runs. These efforts, however, were overshadowed by Spartanburg Methodist's dominance throughout the game. Contributing to the Barons' tally, Orlando Perez and Kendell Wade managed to notch RBIs, a testament to their persistence under pressure.

In game two, Kendell Wade played a significant role in this encounter, delivering three hits and an RBI, contributing notably to the Barons' offensive efforts. Also shining was Joshua Valente, who made a significant impact with a home run in the fourth inning. This swing was part of the highlights that briefly sparked a comeback hope among the Brewton-Parker spectators. Other key contributors included Carson Kirby, Orlando Perez, Fred Diaz, Elijah Baptist, Marquette Gibson, and Zack Carlton, all crossing home plate during the game.

The Barons showcased resilience, notably in the eighth inning when they rallied to produce three runs and by standout plays, including Wade scoring on a wild pitch in the first inning. Valente was instrumental with his home run and gathered praise alongside Carson Kirby and Fred Diaz for driving in critical runs. Unfortunately, this was not enough to overcome the Pioneers' offense.

Despite the Barons' efforts, their season record now stands at 11-27. Hopes for a turnaround are still alive as they prepare for their next encounter against Reinhardt University on April 15, 2025, in Waleska, Georgia.
