Barons Drop Series vs Rams

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In a challenging conference doubleheader on March 7th, the Brewton-Parker Barons faced two tough defeats against the Mobile Rams with a final score of 12-3 in game one and 13-3 in game two at Mobile, Ala. The Barons struggled to keep up with the Rams' offense throughout the game.

Game one saw Marquette Gibson and Jeremi Lara making contributions for the Barons. Gibson scored one run and captured an RBI, while Lara's standout moment came with a double to center field that drove in two runs in the 6th inning. Josh Valente and Zack Carlton also added to the scoreboard, scoring a run. Starting pitcher Grant Cochran faced a formidable Mobile lineup, and struggled. The Barons could not stop the Rams' offense, giving up eight runs in the second inning.

In game two, the Barons scored early, with Jack Morris and Zack Carlton crossing the plate in the first inning. Contributions also came from Kennard Dawson, who added to the team's total with another run. Zack Carlton, Jeremi Lara, and Carson Kirby were responsible for the RBIs, each adding one to the tally. Despite the effort, the team's momentum was not enough to match Mobile's strong innings, notably in the second and third, where the Rams extended and solidified their lead.

Head Coach Aaron Larsen chose to focus on what's ahead for the Barons, stating, "Not the outcome we wanted today. We have a lot we need to work on this week and get better at before next weekend. Carey (William Carey) is a good team, and we will start getting ready for them and put this weekend behind us." The Barons look to move past their struggles and bounce back, hoping this will be just a small blip on the radar at the end of the season.

The Barons' upcoming schedule includes a weekend series against William Carey starting on March 14th at their home field in Mount Vernon. The team, keen to bounce back from its current 9-12 record, is gearing up for better results in the forthcoming games.
