MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Barons faced off against the Night Hawks of Thomas University in a series deciding doubleheader on March 29, 2025. The Barons dropped both games, losing game one 9-3 and game two 14-11. The Barons did everything possible but could not overcome the Night Hawks, despite putting up a strong effort in both games.
Game one saw some positive performances from the Barons.
Carson Kirby,
Jeremi Lara, and
Elijah Baptist successfully scored runs. In terms of RBIs,
Elijah Baptist,
Carson Kirby, and
Marquette Gibson each managed to contribute one. Still, their efforts were overshadowed by a significant moment in the third inning when the Night Hawks surged ahead with six runs, thereby seizing control of the encounter.
In game two,
Kendell Wade led the Barons with a stellar performance, securing three runs and four hits.
Carson Kirby also contributed two runs and two hits. The starting pitcher,
Dylan Speakman, and the Barons' bullpen faced tough opposition and could not stop the Night Hawks' offense as the Barons went through six different arms out of the pen to try and keep the game close. Key moments included
Elijah Baptist's RBI single in the 2nd inning and
Orlando Perez's crucial RBI single in the 8th inning, which kept the Barons in the game, cutting the lead to one before the Night Hawks scored again at the bottom of the 8th.
With this game, the Barons' season record now stands at 10-21. Looking forward, the team is set to face Middle Georgia State on April 1, 2025, back at their home field in Mount Vernon. The team hopes to leverage their experiences from this game and convert them into a successful strategy against their next opponent.
