MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Barons traveled to Columbia, South Carolina, for the Coca-Cola Classic on February 7, 2025. In a doubleheader, the Barons faced off against the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) Red Storm and the Columbia International University Rams. The Barons struggled, being outmatched in both games. They lost the first game to the Red Storm 8-0 in 6 innings and the second game to the Rams 6-0.
The Barons struggled at the plate, tallying only three hits during the day.
Lexi Bradshaw had the only hit in game one, and Both hits in game two. Bradshaw was the extent of the Barons offense.
Kaylee Odum took the mound in game one, going 5.2, giving up all eight runs, and Natalie O'Neil pitched 5 complete, giving up six runs in the second game.
Makayla Croft game in relief and threw two scoreless innings, but the lack of offense sealed the Baron's fate.
Looking forward, the Barons are set to continue their efforts in a doubleheader scheduled for February 8, 2025, against the College of Coastal Georgia and West Virginia Tech, also in Columbia, SC. The team hopes to rebound and come back stronger in their next games.
