MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In a challenging non-conference basketball game on November 4, 2025, the Brewton-Parker Christian University Lady Barons were defeated by the Southeastern University Fire with a final score of 88-60 in Mount Vernon, Ga.
During the first quarter, Southeastern made an early impact, leading 16-10 by the end of the quarter. Mya Herman and Alley Haas of Southeastern impressed with their shooting, while
Jasmine Leynard of Brewton-Parker fought to cut into their lead. In the second quarter, Southeastern expanded their advantage to a 14-point lead at halftime, ending the half at 38-24.
The third quarter saw Southeastern pull ahead, extending its lead to 68-38 by the end of the quarter. The Lady Barons struggled defensively, allowing multiple 3-pointers from their opponents. Attempting a rally in the fourth quarter, the Lady Barons were unable to overcome the deficit and lost the game 88-60.
Tia Floyd was a standout performer for the Lady Barons, scoring 11 points predominantly from behind the arc.
Ja'Ka'Yah Draughn contributed meaningfully with seven points, two assists, and led the team with two steals.
Andrian Stewart led the team in rebounds with four.

Steve Edwards acknowledged the challenge faced by the Lady Barons, stating, "We have a long way to go to be a solid team. We played a really good team today, and there was a noticeable gap. Our group needs time to gel and get connected. We run toward the hard work, and we will be better in time."
Looking ahead, the Lady Barons are set to face St. Thomas University (Fla.) on November 6, 2025, at Gillis Gymnasium, as they seek to improve their season record from 0-3.
