MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Lady Barons faced a challenging regular-season basketball game against the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners on November 29, 2025, in Brunswick, Ga. Despite a strong effort, the Lady Barons were defeated with a final score of 82-73.
The game began with the Mariners taking an early lead, with Abby Shepard scoring the initial points with a three-pointer. Throughout the first quarter, Coastal Georgia established a robust defense, leading to an 18-16 score by the end. In the second quarter, despite early momentum from Brewton-Parker, Coastal Georgia capitalized on its bench strength, ending the first half with a lead of 44-33.
The third quarter remained competitive with no lead changes. Brewton-Parker tried to shift the momentum with strong plays from
Jasmine Leynard, but Coastal Georgia held their ground, ending the quarter ahead at 58-46. The final quarter saw Brewton-Parker close the gap, but the Mariners managed to maintain their lead and seal the Lady Barons' defeat.
Among the standout performances for the Lady Barons were
Jasmine Leynard, who scored 18 points, and
Shamiaha Webb, who added 16 points.
Sydney Beasley notably contributed across the board with 11 points, nine assists, and five steals.
Andranique Stewart was also key with 12 rebounds. Despite these efforts, turnovers were a significant concern that has plagued the Lady Barons this season.

Looking ahead, the Lady Barons are set to face the Mariners again on December 4, 2025, in Mount Vernon, Ga., seeking to correct today's mistakes and achieve their first win of the season. Their current record is 0-8, with a 0-1 mark in the conference.
