HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Brewton-Parker Baseball continued its weekend series with (RV) William Carey (Miss.) on Saturday with an afternoon twin bill in Hattiesburg.
The Barons (15-22, 7-14 SSAC) dropped the pair of games to the Crusaders (25-10, 15-6 SSAC) with an 11-7 loss in game one and a 6-4 loss in game two.
How It Happened | G1 – BPC 7, WCU 11
William Carey opened with a two-run lead, pushing a run home in the first frame with an RBI double, and followed with a second run in the third off a solo homer. Brewton-Parker leveled the score in the top of the fourth with an RBI double off the bat of Jake Mantooth and an RBI groundout from
Jordan Rahn.
The Crusaders jumped out to another two-run lead with an RBI double and an RBI single to lead 4-2 in the bottom half of the fourth inning. The Barons pulled within a run in the fifth, reaching on an error.
WCU blew away in the sixth inning, scoring seven runs on seven hits while leaving two on base in the process. BPC battled in the top of the seventh inning by scoring on a sacrifice fly and an error followed by a two-run homer from Mantooth. Unfortunately, the late-game push was not enough as the Barons fell short in seven innings.

- Brewton-Parker fell behind 15-11 in hits.
- A total of four Barons notched a pair of hits each with Mantooth leading the way with three RBIs and two runs scored as well.
- Alex Muns (3-4) pitched 5.1 innings and received the loss after allowing 11 hits for eight earned runs, walking three batters, and striking out one.
- Dakota Davis pitched the last 0.2 innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs as well as a walk.

The Crusaders scored all six runs in the first three innings, taking a pair in each inning. WCU scored the first two with a two-RBI single in the first frame and followed with an RBI walk and a sacrifice fly in the second for a 4-0 lead. William Carey moved to a 6-0 lead in the third inning, scoring on two homers.
Brewton-Parker scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning and followed up with a sacrifice fly from
Michael Son to cut the deficit down to four runs. The Barons added two more in the eighth inning with an RBI groundout from Mantooth and an RBI double from
Kyran Coleman to close with a 6-4 defeat.

- Kirby led with two doubles while four others notched a hit each and three notched an RBI each.
- Bryce Morley (1-3) pitched the first 1.2 innings and gave up four earned runs on four hits, walking four and striking out two.
- Three others appeared on the mound with Brandon Russell pitching 3.0 innings and striking out a trio while allowing just three hits.
