MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Saturday was a day full of celebration for the Brewton-Parker Softball program as the Lady Barons (25-15, 12-10 SSAC) hosted Point (Ga.) for an SSAC Senior Day doubleheader in Mount Vernon.
Brewton-Parker took care of the Skyhawks (7-32, 1-21 SSAC) in a pair of 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened | G1 – BPC 3, PU 2
Point opened with a score off a wild pitch in the first inning. Brewton-Parker responded with a leadoff single from Bradshaw and followed up with a sacrifice bunt from
Destiny Lucas before an RBI single from
Tori Wright scored the leveling run.
After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Barons put together three hits to help score one in the third for a 2-1 lead.
Ashley Wilson led with a single and stole second before being moved to third on a base hit from Bradshaw. Lucas brought in a run on a single for the lead.
The BPC defense did a great job in the fifth to keep the Skyhawks from scoring as the visitors notched three hits. Brewton-Parker moved to a 3-1 lead with an RBI double from Lucas to score Bradshaw as she reached on a double of her own.
In the sixth, Point pulled within a run by loading the bases and earning an RBI walk for a 3-2 score. Brewton-Parker made swift work of the visitors in the seventh to hold on to the one-run lead for the win.
Inside the Statistics
- The Lady Barons held a 9-6 advantage in hits and were led by three from Bradshaw who also scored two runs.
- Lucas recorded two hits and two RBI with Wright notching two hits and an RBI.
- Natalie O'Neal (13-9) pitched a complete game, gathering four strikeouts while giving up six hits, two walks, and two earned runs.

Brewton-Parker opened with three hits and two runs in the first frame. Bradshaw singled, and Lucas followed with a sacrifice bunt before Wright barreled an RBI double for the 1-0 lead. With the bases loaded, a walk from
BryAnn Pound scored Wright for a 2-0 lead.
In the second, the Lady Barons added a run with a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch from
Alyssa Usrey to move to a 3-0 lead. BPC tallied singles from Wilson, Bradshaw, and Lucas to help the offense.
A double, a single, and an RBI base hit gave the Skyhawks their first run of the game in the third inning. After a scoreless three innings, Point battled in the seventh inning by producing three straight singles with two outs to eventually score a run but that was not enough to force the game into the bottom half of the inning.
Inside the Statistics
- Point held an 11-9 advantage in hits.
- Hailey Gabrich, Bradshaw, and Wilson notched two hits each.
- Kira Altman (10-6) earned the win, pitching for five innings. She gave up one earned run on eight hits and one strikeout.
- Maeleigh Burns produced her third save of the season with two innings of three-hit, one-run ball, striking out one in the process.
