Barons Slip Up in Series Finale at Stillman

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Brewton-Parker Baseball's weekend series at Stillman (Ala.) concluded on Saturday afternoon with a single nine-inning contest.

The Barons (13-10, 5-4 SSAC) were dropped by the Tigers (8-9, 3-6 SSAC) in an 11-7 loss to close out the series in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

How It Happened

Brewton-Parker began the scoring efforts in the top of the second inning with Michael Son leading off with a walk. After a flyout from Drew DeMasi, Jacob Mantooth singled through the left side to advance Son. Both Mantooth and Son stole bases before Kyran Coleman barreled a two-RBI single to center field for a 2-0 lead.

Stillman took control of the game with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning for a 5-2 advantage. Carson Kirby walked before Tate Worrell knocked a single to center field. With two runners on, Kennard Dawson singled for an RBI before DeMasi added another run with an RBI single to cut the deficit down to 5-4 in the top of the fifth inning.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Tigers gathered two runs with a two-out, two-RBI single to advance to a 7-4 lead. Brewton-Parker utilized an error and base hits from Kendell Wade, Kirby, and Worrell to pull within two runs in the top of the sixth inning.

The Tigers moved out to an 11-5 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with five hits while taking care of a pair of errors from the Barons. Brewton-Parker found two more runs with an RBI double from DeMasi and a sacrifice flyout from Mantooth for an 11-7 score. Unfortunately, the momentum stopped as BPC was left scoreless to close out the game.
