MOUNT VERNON, December 17, 2024 - In a decisive victory that energized the home fans, the Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons basketball team secured a significant win against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Fillies with a final score of 66-38 in their SSAC Conference Game on Monday night.
The Lady Barons displayed a strong performance right from the start, leading at halftime with a score of 28-24. As the game progressed, Brewton-Parker extended their lead, showcasing their defensive and offensive prowess. By the end of the game, they had nearly doubled the Fillies' final score, ensuring a comfortable win on their home court.
Top scorers for the Lady Barons were
Jakayla Peeples with 18 points, closely followed by
Destanee Wright who contributed 17 points.
Chasity Degale also played a pivotal role, adding 14 points to the team's tally. Overall team contributions were significant, with notable plays and defensive actions that bolstered their position throughout the game.
In a post-game statement, Coach Edwards shared, "It is always good to win at home. Even though we have battled through injuries and a host of other obstacles, we believe playing through the tough schedule so far is preparing us for Conference play.
