Brewton-Parker Lady Barons Fall to Faulkner Eagles

MOUNT VERNON, Nov 8 - In a gripping volleyball conference showdown at Montgomery, Ala., the Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons fell narrowly to the Faulkner Eagles with a final score of 3-2 on November 8, 2024. Despite a strong start winning the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-23, the Lady Barons couldn't sustain their momentum, succumbing in the next three sets 20-25, 13-25, and 10-15.

The match featured remarkable performances from Brewton-Parker's top players. Doriangelis Serrano led with a powerful display of 24 kills, followed by Kavlyn Hartmann who not only provided 19 kills but also contributed significantly on defense with 20 digs. The defense was bolstered by Raphaela Felisberto, who not only executed five blocks but also served up three aces and delivered 24 assists, showcasing her all-around game. Adriana De Jesus and Amme Mobley also had notable contributions in blocking, key to the intense rallies during the match.

Despite the loss, the team displayed resilience and skill, particularly in moments like the critical blocks by Adriana De Jesus and Raphaela Felisberto which were crucial in the fiercely contested sets. Coach Obed Quiles expressed immense pride in his team's performance and growth, stating, "I'm very proud of this team. They have grown so much from last year and helped build a foundation this program can build off of for the future. We are going to spend the off season getting better and recruiting and come back ready for next season,"

With their season now concluded, the Lady Barons ended with a record of 11-10. The Lady Barons finished above .500 for the first time since 2010. With no more games this season, the focus shifts to training and building the team for a stronger comeback next year.
