MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In an exhilarating conference showdown at Gillis Gymnasium on November 2, the Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons demonstrated their resilience and determination by defeating the Middle Georgia State Knights, winning the match 3-1. Fueled by standout performances and strategic plays, the Lady Barons overcame an initial setback to secure a crucial victory.
The match commenced with Middle Georgia State taking the first set 25-18, setting a challenging pace. However, the Lady Barons countered vigorously, capturing the next three sets with scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-17 respectively. The turnaround was spearheaded by
Doriangelis Serrano, who led with 17 kills, and notably clinched critical points in the final moments of Sets 2, 3, and 4.
Kavlyn Hartmann and
Amme Mobley also were pivotal, contributing significantly with 14 kills and 8 kills, along with top blocking honors.
Defensively, the Lady Barons were supported by
Kinsley Jordan, who dominated the backcourt with 18 digs. The offense was orchestrated by
Jelisa Alexander, who posted a stellar 26 assists, enabling effective setups and impactful hits throughout the competition.
Highlighting the significance of the comeback, Coach remarked, "I am proud of this team for their willingness to battle even with a slow start. Knowing it was a must-win game, we had ladies step up in pivotal moments which pushed our drive to win. Now that this game is over, it is time to prepare for the next." The future for Brewton-Parker looks promising as they aim to carry this momentum into their next encounter against William Carey University on November 6 in the Gillis Gymnasium.
