Lady Barons Stunned by Loyola New Orleans

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Lady Barons Volleyball team looked to get back in action after the unexpected Hurricane delay to their season, hosting Loyola New Orleans in a make-up game. The Wolfpack came out in full force, and despite the Lady Barons' best on a short week of practice, it was not enough to prevent being swept by Loyola. The Wolfpack won in three straight sets, 25-20, 25-18, and 25-10.

Coach Obed Quiles spoke to us after the game and shared his feelings about the team's performance. "I am thankful to be back on the court playing volleyball again after 17 days off from the Hurricane. Hopefully, we can be on a normal schedule and get ready for the busy week ahead of us,"

First Set

The Lady Barons started the match behind their normal pace with an equal number of kills as errors, resulting in a .000 hitting percentage. The Lady Barons and Wolfpack both struggled in the first set with errors, and both teams had a hitting percentage under .100. But where the Lady Barons struggled to pick up the pace, the Wolfpack continued to get better each set and rode the momentum to a quick sweep.

Second Set

The Lady Barons struggled again, with only nine kills and five errors, giving them a .129 hitting percentage. While the Wolfpack only had a .194 hitting percentage, the Lady Barons struggled to be consistent with their scoring chances.

Third Set

The Lady Barons were outclassed in the final set, with the Wolfpack having zero errors to the Lady Barons eight and ending the set with a .583 hitting percentage to the Lady Barons negative hitting percentage of -.011. The Lady Barons look to take the opportunity to get back to regular practices after having been off for so long.
