MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Women's Soccer faced Florida College at home Saturday night for a non-conference matchup.
The Lady Barons (0-2-1) had a tough fight and were able to force a draw with the Falcons (0-4-2) after going down early in the match.
"The game today was not our best," Head Coach
Phillip Borde said. "We created some chances that we needed to take advantage of, and we put ourselves in situations where we had to make brilliant plays not to concede."
"Soccer is about minimizing mistakes and capitalizing on them," Borde added. "We did not do enough to win. Now we just must turn our focus to Dalton State."
How It Happened | First Half
BPC started off strong with Oliva Cason taking the first shot for the Lady Barons in the 11th minute but would soon slip and allow the Falcons to break the scoreless draw in the
14th minute.
Julissa Sanchez would have a shot of her own just moments later but could not convert.
The Lady Barons would be on the defensive end of the ball for most of the first half, until the 43rd minute, where BPC produced one last chance to score in the half with a
corner kick from Cason.
The Lady Barons were outplayed in the first half as Florida College led 8-2 in shots and 3-0 in shots on goal.
How It Happened | Second Half
BPC started off the second half playing defensively once again, giving up three shots from the Falcons before taking one on their own in the 55th minute by
Avril Diaz.
Kathleen Fisher eventually leveled things in the 69th minute, finding the back of the net with the help of Sanchez. Sanchez would go on to have a shot of her own in the 73rd minute, followed by a shot from
McKenzie Tucker in the 74th minute.
Beata Chako would have an opportunity to score from a header in the 77th minute and Fisher would try for another goal with a shot in the 84th minute.
The Lady Barons found themselves in a bit of trouble in the 86th minute when a foul was committed leading to a penalty kick for Florida College.
Naphtaline Clermeus came in clutch and made the save to keep the game tied in the final minutes.
Inside The Statistics
- The Lady Barons were outshot 26-8 in overall attempts and 13-3 in shots on goal.
- Clermeus produced a total of 11 saves to help keep the game alive for BPC.
- Fisher and Sanchez led the team with two shots apiece.
