MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Men's Soccer hosted Carolina University (N.C.) on Saturday night for a non-conference matchup before kicking the rest of Southern States Athletic Conference play back into high gear.
The Barons (1-5-0) were outmatched on home soil as the Bruins (6-1-0) defeated BPC in a 6-0 loss.
"We lacked passion, energy, and desire tonight," Head Coach Bob Neumann said. "We expect more from our squad. There needs to be changes to help shift the direction for the future of our program."
How It Happened | First Half
The Bruins came out quite hot, finding the back of the net less than seven minutes into the match for an early one-goal advantage. After nearly 26 minutes of play, the visitors were very fortunate enough to net a second goal off the miscues of Brewton-Parker as the Barons recorded an own goal off the Bruins' corner at the 32:52 mark.
Carolina University closed out the half with scores at the 38:27 mark followed by another at the 41:01 mark to take a 4-0 lead before the break. The visitors led 9-3 in total shots for the first 45 minutes. The Barons had two shots on goal all half, coming from Derventz Altidor in the opening minute of play as well as Danny Guerra in the 43rd minute.
How It Happened | Second Half
Carolina University continued strong early in the second half netting a goal in the first few moments of the half before another in less than seven minutes at the 51:29 mark to move to a 6-0 advantage.
The Barons produced just four shots overall, but unfortunately, not one managed to find the frame. The Bruins managed to produce seven shots in the half with a total of four on goal.
Inside The Statistics
- Carolina University led 16-7 in overall shots and 11-2 in shots on goal.
- Andrea Abwe and Jake McCarthy split the duties in the net.
- McCarthy earned the start and notched a save while giving up four goals before Abwe came in for relief, recording four saves and two goals allowed.
