MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker baseball faced cross-state foe Middle Georgia for two non-conference contests on Tuesday in Mount Vernon.
The Barons (9-20) dropped a pair of losses to the Knights (16-13) in two seven-inning games.
How It Happened | G1 – BPC 1, MGA 7
Middle Georgia struck first with a home run and an RBI groundout in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. After a blank second inning, the Barons grabbed a run back in the bottom of the third with a leadoff single from
Jacob Mantooth followed by an RBI single from
Brandon Lawrence which brought Mantooth home.
The Knights surged in the top of the sixth inning, scoring four runs while producing four hits in the process to move to a 6-0 lead. MGA tallied one final run in the top of the seventh with a solo homer for the 7-1 lead. Unfortunately for BPC, the bats were cold with just one more hit in the seventh inning from
Ethan Frasca.

- Middle Georgia bested the Barons with a 7-3 hit advantage.
- Ty Cook pitched for four innings, striking out five batters while walking another five. Cook was credited for the loss, giving up two earned runs.
- Noah Gilbert and Bryce Morley finished things out on the mound in the final three innings.

Brewton-Parker scored early with two hits for two runs.
Drew DeMasi led things with a single while Lawrence doubled down the left-field line. With runners on second and third,
Kennard Dawson brought home DeMasi on a sacrifice fly followed by Lawrence scoring on a passed ball walk from
Eduardo Castillo.
The Knights responded with a two-run barrel to left field to level the score 2-2 in the top of the third inning. The Barons answered with a leadoff homer from DeMasi to reclaim the lead. Lawrence doubled and score on a single from Dawson to move to a 4-2 advantage. BPC then moved to a 5-2 lead with a bases-loaded walk from
Tate Worrell.
Middle Georgia followed up with a four-run fourth inning highlighted by a three-RBI double to take a 6-5 lead. The Knights added four hits for three additional runs in the top of the fifth inning to move to a 9-5 advantage.
The Barons leveled the game in the bottom half of the inning, scoring four runs while notching four hits. Worrell put together a two-RBI double before Mantooth notched an RBI double.
Kyran Coleman then doubled to push home the ninth run to pull the Barons back into the ball game.
Middle Georgia shut the door on Brewton-Parker with two runs in the sixth inning and four in the seventh to pull away to a 15-9 lead and the eventual win.
