HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Brewton-Parker softball program continued its weekend road trip with a contest at No. 15 William Carey (Miss.) in Hattiesburg on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Barons (9-9, 2-6 SSAC) stunned the Crusaders (21-5, 5-1 SSAC) with a split, falling 4-0 in game one and securing game two 5-4 to hand WCU their first SSAC loss of the season.
With the split, Brewton-Parker has earned just the third win in program history against William Carey and the first win over the Crusaders since 2018 while also being the program's win in Hattiesburg.

Brewton-Parker put two runners on in the opening inning of action with
Abbey Flowers barreling a two-out double followed by a walk for
Chloe Strickland. Unfortunately, the pair were left on as the Crusaders struck out the next batter.
In their first outing at the plate, William Carey pieced together two base hits and a sacrifice flyout to score one run in the bottom half of the first while leaving a runner on. After holding the Lady Barons hitless in the second, the Crusaders took a 3-0 lead with two singles and a two-run homer in the bottom half of the second.
The Lady Barons managed to get some production off the bats in the top of the fourth with a single from Strickland followed by another from
Josalin Whitten, yet the pair were left on the bags to stay at a three-run deficit.
William Carey eventually added one more run in the bottom half of the fifth inning utilizing an error and an RBI double to move to a 4-0 lead with two innings to play.
Brewton-Parker left another pair on base in the top of the sixth with
Alyssa Usrey knocking a leadoff base hit followed up by another hit from Flowers. The pair were left on after two flyouts and a strikeout to close the top half of the inning with WCU holding on to their 4-0 advantage in the final inning and half of play.

- Brewton-Parker was led by Flowers who was 2-for-3 in the game which included a double.
- The Lady Barons struggled to finish opportunities at the plate, leaving six runners on base.
- Laykin Brown (4-5) pitched for all six innings, giving up four earned runs while striking out three batters.

After a scoreless first inning, Brewton-Parker struck first by putting a pair of runs on the board in the second inning. Strickland connected for a leadoff single followed by a double from
Kristi Peters.
Cayden Fleming was able to reach first on an error which Strickland and Peters managed to make it home to give BPC a 2-0 lead early.
William Carey responded in the bottom half of the third inning with six hits to push across four runs to claim a 4-2 advantage. The Lady Barons were able to level the score in the fifth inning, putting two runners on base with a walk and an error before Flowers produced a two-RBI single to bring home the pair.
A leadoff solo shot from Peters in the sixth inning gave the Lady Barons a 5-4 lead which proved to be the deciding run in the game, securing the split for Brewton-Parker and a big win for the Lady Barons' softball program.

- Brewton-Parker managed to slide past William Carey despite the Crusaders' 11-5 advantage in hits.
- Flowers led with two RBIs followed by Peters and Strickland leading with two hits each.
- Natalie O'Neal (3-0) earned her third win of the season, tossing all seven innings. She gave up four earned runs while striking out one batter and walking one.
