BRUNSWICK, Ga. – Brewton-Parker softball traveled to Brunswick to take on No. 18-ranked Coastal Georgia on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Barons (3-3) slipped to the Mariners (5-4) in doubleheader play.
How It Happened | G1 – BPC 1, CG 7
The Mariners took an early 3-0 lead scoring three runs in the first inning before adding three more in the bottom of the second for a six-run advantage. After a scoreless third inning, Brewton-Parker produced three hits and took advantage of an error to score a run.
Alexis Bradshaw connected for a leadoff single before
Alyssa Usrey notched a base hit to advance the runner. With both runners advancing on a groundout, BPC finally pushed a runner across home plate off a single from
Chloe Strickland despite the error, the Lady Barons left two runners on base to close out the inning.
Coastal Georgia added one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning, producing three hits in the process to take a 7-1 lead. Brewton-Parker struggled to produce offense down the stretch, producing just one hit in each of the final three innings of play.

- CG held a 9-6 hit advantage.
- Bradshaw and Strickland both led BPC with two hits apiece with Strickland picking up the lone RBI.
- Laykin Brown started in the circle for BPC and took the loss with six runs on five hits.
- Emma Garner closed out the game in the final 4.2 innings, allowing four hits and one run.
- Both pitchers notched a strikeout each.

BPC struggled in game two of the day as the Mariners defeated the Lady Barons 10-0 in a shortened five-inning contest.
Coastal Georgia held Brewton-Parker to a hitless second game while scoring a pair of runs in the second inning and following up with six in the third as well as another pair in the fourth. The Mariners were swinging hot bats, producing four homers on a total of nine hits for the game.
