Women’s Soccer Battles Against Faulkner in Senior Day Draw

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Women's Soccer hosted Faulkner (Ala.) on Wednesday afternoon in a Senior Day showdown in Mount Vernon, Ga.

The Lady Barons (1-11-2, 1-8-1 SSAC) battled against the Eagles (4-7-4, 1-6-2 SSAC), giving away a 2-1 lead late in the match for the 2-2 draw.

"This was one of the better collective performances from the team," Head Coach Phillip Borde said. "Of course, we could have performed better and see the game out, but that is football sometimes."

"The work rate was without question today, we just have to mature a bit more when managing a lead late in the game," Borde added. "I am proud of the team that showed up today."

Wednesday was a bittersweet day for several student-athletes as it was Senior Day. A total of five BPC student-athletes were represented prior to the match with Olivia Cason, Beata Chako, Avril Diaz, Kennedy Fischer, and Katelyn Ladner being recognized for their efforts while in the Women's Soccer program.

How It Happened | First Half

Faulkner opened the match with four shots to pressure the Lady Barons early. BPC responded with shots on goal from Beata Chako in the 13th minute followed up by another shot on frame from Julissa Sanchez in the 14th minute.

Chako nearly broke the scoreless affair at the 27:19 mark, knocking the post before assisting Nikki Clark at the 38:34 mark to give BPC a 1-0 advantage. Faulkner led 9-6 in overall shots in the first 45 minutes of play, yet Brewton-Parker managed to hold on to the lead at the break.

How It Happened | Second Half

Brewton-Parker began the second half with loads of energy, attacking Faulkner heavily with five attempts toward the goal with four being on frame. The Lady Barons moved to a two-goal advantage over the Eagles with Clark playing a beautiful long ball to Ladner who slotted the ball past the keeper at the 56:40 mark.

Faulkner swiftly responded nearly four minutes later with a goal of their own to cut the deficit down to just one.
