Lady Barons Fall to Tennessee Southern

PULASKI, Tenn. – Brewton-Parker Women's Volleyball took on Tennessee Southern in Pulaski, Tenn. on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Barons (4-12, 1-9 SSAC) dropped three sets to the Firehawks (12-9, 5-5 SSAC).

How It Happened

The Lady Barons struggled in the first set, falling quickly to a 14-4 deficit. BPC gathered some momentum with kills coming from Kinsley Jordan, Keelie Jordan, and Amme Mobley. The Lady Barons gathered seven total kills on their way to a 25-12 first set loss.

Brewton-Parker kept the game close for most of the second set until the Firehawks took a six-point run and took an 18-9 lead. Jordan gathered two more kills, and Alana Garcia had a service ace to end the second set, 25-13 in favor of the Firehawks.

The Lady Barons fought hard in the third set, going back and forth with the Firehawks. BPC picked up three straight points to cut UT Southern's lead to one, before dropping the next 11 points, to fall to a 20-8 deficit. The Lady Barons gathered three more kills, before ultimately losing the third set, 25-15.

  • Tennessee Southern led the match 35-24 in kills while producing a .424 hitting percentage.
  • The Lady Barons trailed in digs 30-21.
  • Mobley led the team in kills tying a match-high of nine, followed by Jordan with seven.
  • Jelisa Alexander had a match-high of eight digs while also leading BPC with 19 assists.
