MARIETTA, Ga. – Brewton-Parker women's basketball returned to the court to continue SSAC play with a road contest at Life (Ga.) on Saturday.

The Lady Barons (13-5, 5-4 SSAC) continued their unbeaten streak in 2023 with a 77-65 win over the Running Eagles (11-7, 4-5 SSAC), moving to a perfect 4-0 record in the new year.

"We found a way to win a tough road game today," Head Coach Steve Edwards said. "Offensively, we didn't play well in the first half, but we locked in on the defensive side of things."

"It was good to see that we were able to score it well in the second half," Edwards mentioned. "We are finding our stride at the right time. I'm proud of our group."

How It Happened | 1st Q

• It was a slow start for both sides, but the hosts were able to open with a 4-0 lead before the Lady Barons were able to get on the board off the hands of Madison Evans at the 7:26 mark.
• After falling 6-2, BPC found a way to level the score with Micah Bess and Evans finding the basket.
• Life scored at the 2:28 mark to go up by two before Bess converted a layup to equalize with just two minutes remaining.
• The Running Eagles responded with a layup of their own to wrap up the scoring in the first quarter, holding a 10-8 lead.

How It Happened | 2nd Q

• The scoring began to heat up in the second quarter with both teams producing nearly 20 points each.
• Life opened with a layup in the early moments of the period, but Brewton-Parker secured their first lead of the game with a jumper from Evans and a three-pointer from Cisley Copper to lead 13-12 with 8:34 to play.
• The Running Eagles took back control with four points to lead by three before the Lady Barons quickly leveled the score with a three-point, and-one play coming from Daisha Terry at the 7:41 mark.
• Brewton-Parker followed with a 6-2 run over the next two minutes to lead 22-18, but Life put together a three-point response to pull their deficit down to just one point with 4:55 on the clock.
• After a score from Evans, Life managed to get back in control of the score with two unanswered jumpers to lead by one.
• A pair of free throws from Terry at the 2:12 mark returned control to BPC before the hosts were able to close out the final moments by outscoring the Lady Barons 4-2 to lead 29-28 at the break.

• Terry opened things up for BPC to start the third quarter, giving the Lady Barons a one-point edge early.
• Both teams were trading scoring trips before back-to-back scores from Evans gave BPC a 36-34 advantage with seven minutes on the clock.
• The game remained tight for the entire quarter as both teams were swapping control of the score.
• A trey from A'Aliyah Clay gave the Lady Barons a three-point edge at the 3:14 mark, but the Running Eagles continued to respond with successful trips down the floor.
• A layup from Copper at the 0:47 mark was the closing score of the period, giving BPC a 50-47 lead with 10 minutes to play in regulation.

• The fourth quarter started off tight with Life managing to knock down a five-point BPC lead, turning around to a 55-54 lead with 8:04 on the clock.
• Brewton-Parker narrowly outscored Life 5-4 in the following three minutes but remained leveled with the hosts as there were just over five minutes left to play in the game.
• The Lady Barons began to ignite late in the quarter, going on a 9-2 run in the next two and a half minutes to lead 68-61.
• In the final two minutes of action, BPC was able to outscore LU 9-4 to seal the 77-65 victory on the road.

• As a team, Brewton-Parker shot for 40% (30-of-75) from the floor, 17.4% (4-of-23) from three, and 72.2% (13-of-18) from the charity stripe.
• Evans led the way for BPC with 24 points while also snagging eight boards.
• Terry scored 15 points while Angel McRae returned to her usual double-double ways with a 12-point and 13-rebound performance.
• Clay wrapped up the Lady Barons in double figures with 11 points.

• Brewton-Parker dominated off the glass, outrebounding Life 53-33.
