Women’s Wrestling Produces 6-3 Record On the Weekend at Patriot Duals

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Brewton-Parker women's wrestling traveled north to Kentucky for a weekend at the Patriot Duals in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

The Lady Barons move to 7-3 on the season after a 6-3 performance over the weekend. BPC opened things on Friday with pool play, recording three wins and a loss before wrapping the weekend with a 3-2 record on Saturday.

India Page highlighted the weekend for Brewton-Parker with four pins for the two-day event. Followed by the first team's (BPC Blue) Leidaly Rivera and Avry Warren three pins apiece. Nicole Chandler also gathered three pins for the Lady Barons' second team (BPC Orange). Alyssa Valdivia produced the second-most single match points for the weekend with 18 match points.

Day One Pool Play

In the 17-1 win over Liberty on Friday, Rivera led with a fall followed by a fall from Taniyah Ford. Page picked up a tech fall win while Warren earned a win by decision. Brewton-Parker downed Emmanuel 27-17 in round two of Friday's action.

After a forfeit win at 101, BPC captured a tech fall (10-0) from Valdivia with Alesandra Burgos producing a 3-1 decision. Migdalys Ramos and Rivera both recorded pins over their opponents with Page securing a 9-6 decision.

In round three, BPC downed Campbellsville Black with a 35-9 win. The Lady Barons received four forfeit wins with Gabriela Galvez producing a 10-0 tech fall. Ramos notched a 3-0 decision followed by a fall from Page.

During the 29-18 defeat to Indiana Tech, Page continued to be the highlight with yet another pin with Warren earning a pin of her own. Valdivia won an 18-16 decision while Burgos won an 8-6 decision.

Day Two Bracket Action

Day two kicked off with a big win over Cumberlands Blue, 28-18. The Lady Barons were led by pins from Madisyn Blackburn, Jorie Richardson, Ramos, and Page. Burgos produced a 6-4 decision win with BPC also picking up easy points in a forfeit.

Campbellsville Maroon narrowly edged out the Lady Barons, 24-23. Galvez opened with a pin which was followed up with a forfeit win in favor of BPC. Jamesa Robinson gathered a 15-5 tech fall followed by another decision from Burgos. The Tigers gathered five-straight wins before BPC picked up a forfeit in the final match.

Brewton-Parker downed Limestone, 25-17 with wins coming from Robinson, Burgos, Richardson, Warren, and two forfeits. Robinson and Burgos both produced decisions while Richards notched a 14-4 tech fall.

Indiana Tech knocked off the Lady Barons yet again but with a 39-9 win the second time around. Warren led with a fall while Page recorded a 7-0 decision.

In the final dual of the two-day event, BPC defeated Missouri Valley 32-17. Each win that came from the Lady Barons ended in a fall as Galvez, Valdivia, Richardson, Rivera, Page, and Warren produced solid performances to close out the weekend.

A Brief Look at BPC Orange

As for the second team, the Lady Barons finished the weekend with a 2-7 record which was highlighted by a 17-16 win over Hiram (Ohio) on Friday and a 20-20 tiebreaker win over Montreat (N.C.). The tiebreaker was decided by falls which BPC held the 3-1 edge.

The Lady Barons host the Baron Duals next Saturday in Gillis Gym.
